Brigo Tattoo- Aftercare guide

Tattoo Aftercare – Brigo Tattoo Oxford

Your fresh tattoo is a work of art — and proper tattoo aftercare is essential to keep it vibrant, clean, and beautiful for years. Please follow this professional Tattoo Aftercare guide to support healing and protect your skin.

✅ First 24 Hours – Tattoo Aftercare Guide
  • Keep the medical bandage/second skin on for 24 hours
  • Avoid touching or pressing the area
  • Fluid buildup under film is normal

If the bandage peels or leaks, contact us so we can advise you.

💧 First 3 Days – Cleaning Your Tattoo

Your tattoo is an open wound during this stage, so hygiene is the top priority in tattoo aftercare.

  1. Wash hands first
  2. Gently rinse tattoo with fragrance-free antibacterial soap
  3. Pat dry with a clean paper towel
  4. Apply a thin layer of healing ointment (Bepanthen Tattoo / Hustle Butter)
  5. Do not re-cover unless advised

Repeat 2–3 times daily.

🧴 Days 4–14 – Tattoo Aftercare During Peeling Stage
  • Skin may flake and peel — do NOT scratch or pick
  • Switch to fragrance-free moisturiser (Aveeno, Palmer’s)
  • Moisturise 2–3x daily
  • Avoid tight clothing over the tattoo

Itching is normal — dryness is not.

🛑 What To Avoid During Tattoo Healing

For a minimum of 2–3 weeks:

🚫 Swimming, hot tubs, saunas

🚫 Sun exposure or tanning

🚫 Touching with unwashed hands

🚫 Gym equipment rubbing on tattoo

🚫 Makeup, oils, perfume on the area

🚫 Submerging in water (baths, sea, pools)

This is the most important part of tattoo aftercare.

🌞 Aftercare for Healed Tattoos (4–6 weeks and beyond)

To prolong pigment brilliance:
  • Always use SPF 50 on the tattoo
  • Keep skin hydrated
  • Avoid harsh exfoliation on the tattooed area
  • Book touch-ups when needed
